What's Going on with AMSOIL Oil Filters Right Now

If you've tried to order AMSOIL oil filters recently and noticed some sizes are out of stock, you're not imagining it — and you're not alone.

Here's what happened.

One of AMSOIL's filter manufacturing partners unexpectedly halted production earlier this year. This wasn't an AMSOIL problem — it was an industry-wide disruption that hit a lot of brands at once. AMSOIL was caught in the middle of it like everyone else, and certain filter SKUs went out of stock as a result.

The good news is AMSOIL moved quickly. Rather than leaving dealers and customers without options, they secured a large supply of WIX and WIX XP oil filters to bridge the gap. As specific AMSOIL-branded filters run out of stock, AMSOIL is recommending the appropriate WIX equivalent as a direct temporary replacement. WIX is a well-regarded filter brand — this isn't a downgrade, it's a practical solution while supply gets sorted out.

A few things worth knowing:

  • AMSOIL has confirmed they are actively working with a new supplier to restore their branded filter lineup

  • WIX filters will continue to be available through AMSOIL going forward — the XP line is the stopgap, but standard WIX will remain a permanent option

  • The oil side of things is completely unaffected — this is a filter supply issue only

If you're mid-drain interval and need a filter, check availability for your specific part number. If the AMSOIL filter is out, the WIX replacement will be listed. Either way, you're covered.

More on the broader industry situation — what happened, who was involved, and what it means for other brands you might have sitting on your shelf — coming in a future post.
